What I've been building

The weekly review reminders on screen and by text now line up.

• The weekly review banner now appears at your configured review time, so it prompts you alongside the text message instead of nagging from midnight.
• Fixed the weekly review text message linking to the week that was ending, so tapping it now opens next week instead of a dead end.

The homepage and the log page each picked up a small, visible change.

• The homepage build log card now shows five recent entries instead of ten, so it no longer dwarfs the other cards and the full log stays in reach.
• The log now covers more past days, including late June, so there is more of the project history to read.

Setting up all the projects at once used to fail at random when two of them reached the same shared link together, and it now carries on instead of stopping.

The Timeline got a couple of visual tweaks so it is easier to scan.

• One-off tasks now show a small circle beside the title, so every row lines up with your habits and repeating tasks instead of starting further left.
• The marker for today is now a green “Today” label with the date and a thin line, the kind of divider you already see in messaging apps.

Most of the work went on the header, the site’s colours, and making contact and the build log easier to find.

• The header now carries Work, Log and About links and a LinkedIn icon, so you can reach any part of the site directly.
• The D logo mark now sits in the header and the browser-tab icon turned forest green, so the whole site shares one colour.
• The build log now lists projects that will never get a full write-up, named but not clickable, so you see all the work rather than a third of it.
• The about page and every footer now show an email, so you can get in touch without scrolling a long page or leaving the site.
• Each project’s build log now leads with its newest entry, so you land on where the work is now instead of its first day.
• The build log updates itself each day and its history reaches back to 10 July, so the page stays current on its own.
• Build log entries now show just the commit count, dropping a time range that made short sessions look like a full day at the desk.
• Fixed the header links reading too dim and clashing in colour, and the about-page contact line breaking awkwardly on phones.

Today was one small layout change for people on a computer rather than a phone.

• On a wide screen the app now renders in a centred column with a coloured margin on each side, so it reads as designed instead of stretching awkwardly across the window.

Today went on the site analytics quietly losing part of what it records.

• Session replay and dead-click tracking work again, so a confusing page can be watched back instead of guessed at from logs.
• Backend logs can again tie an API request to the person and session behind it, so a reported problem is easier to trace.

A short day of layout and navigation polish.

• On a computer the app now sits in a centred, phone-width column instead of stretching across the screen, so it stays easy to read.
• Task detail now has a back arrow in its header, so you can get back to your list even when you opened the task from a text message.

Most of today went on the portfolio itself: a new build log, and the case study pages.

• The site now lists each day of work across projects on a new build log page, and a daily job keeps it current on its own.
• The planner and storymap case studies now show sharper, larger screenshots, so the detail is readable instead of soft or cramped.
• The planner case study’s text-message example now looks like a real phone conversation, so it reads as a genuine screenshot rather than a mock-up.
• The the-weekly case study is now hidden from the public site, while its writing stays in the repository for later.
• Fixed case study lists that showed no bullet points, screenshots that looked dimmed, a gap beneath phone-frame images, and cramped homepage spacing and text.

A small day, one fix and some notes for later.

• Three improvements were noted for later: a text box that grows line by line, story history that reads as notes, and tidier pop-up messages.
• Fixed the back arrow on a finished story sometimes landing on an unhelpful error screen; it now always returns to the log.

Two additions to the shared component set, both off by default so no existing screen changes.

• Grouped lists can now sit on a soft tinted background, chosen over a border because both border colours measured too faint to see.
• List rows gain an add style, a dashed ring matching the tick circle, so something you could add reads differently from something already owed.
• The planner’s Today design swaps its lone log-a-habit button for a zone of unlogged habits built from the two new pieces.

Most of today went on habits, on the screen and by text message.

• Every habit you haven’t logged today now sits at the end of Today, so recording one is a tap instead of opening a separate picker.
• You can now move a repeating task or habit to another day by text, where before the reply told you to open the app.
• Fixed an add button blocked by the saved-task message, daily habits labelled weekly, a misaligned history grid, a stuck weekly count, and clumsy messages.

Most of today was case study polish, with time set aside to plan a new build log for the site.

• The storymap case study now shows real captures of the grid and a card being dragged between release stages, instead of placeholder blocks.
• The live link on each case study now reads Try it, and storymap repeats it lower down where you’d most want to open the app.
• The site header now slides away as you scroll down and returns as you scroll up, giving small screens more room to read.
• On phones the app screenshots now fill the screen with a peek of the next one, so they’re easier to read and swipe.
• Started planning an automated build log that turns each day’s commits into a plain-language note about what changed for you.
• Fixed off-centre carousel captions, a controls row that shifted between slides, cluttered tags above case study titles, and inconsistent title dividers.

Today went on a caching bug that hid saved changes from signed-in editors.

• When you save changes to a board, you now see them straight away, instead of an old copy your browser had held onto for up to four hours.

The weekly review and the Timeline both got attention.

• You can now see every habit’s progress on the screen shown after planning your week, including flexible ones left off before.
• Fixed those progress grids showing too small, awkward habit-nudge wording, and the Timeline losing today’s marker for people in Australian time zones.

Work continued on making each recurring habit record what happened on a day, so a past day stays correct after you change its schedule.

Most of the day reworked the site’s colours and the look of the homepage cards.

• Highlights across the site, from badges to links to buttons, are now forest green instead of purple, a look that read as AI-generated.
• Homepage project cards no longer show tag chips, giving each card larger, clearer artwork in the freed-up space.
• The diagrams on the storymap case study were re-tinted to match the new green, so the page reads as one palette.
